Frequently Asked Questions

Can rotten wood be repaired or does it need to be replaced?

Rotten wood can be repaired if the damage is not too severe. However, if the rot has spread extensively, it may be necessary to replace the affected wood.

There are multiple ways to care for your home’s exterior to prevent damage and wood rot. We recommend having proper drainage to limit the amount of moisture, and regular maintenance to prevent small repairs from turning into large ones.

Wood rot is caused by the growth of certain types of fungi that break down the cellulose in wood. Moisture is necessary for the fungi to grow, so areas of high humidity or frequent exposure to water are more likely to experience wood rot.
